My CPA, PA (Formerly Acosta & Goldey) is a leading tax and accounting firm that provides tailored services to meet the needs of individuals and small to medium size businesses. 

What sets our firm apart is our deep understanding of businesses needs to manage their accounting, tax compliance, and financial strategies while managing their day to day business operations.  A sizeable number of businesses postponed accounting activities and complete them solely to comply with tax return filing requirements. This places business owners under significant risk due to limited knowledge, inexperienced staff, or lack of time to oversee the performance of these activities.  As a result, they don’t attain timely financial reports throughout the year that contained information pivotal to their business operations and that directly impacted their strategies and growth.  Many businesses are frequently assessed late fees due to late bill payments which added up to painful amounts that would have been best invested in their operations.

Only a small number of businesses proactively create a tax and financial plan to reduce their tax liability and increase their bottom line. Many businesses miss strategies such as contributing to tax deferred retirement plans (e.g. 401k, IRA, or other defined benefit plans), revisiting their business structure (e.g. S-Corp, LLC), or investing in tax deductible business assets.

Julio Acosta, CPA

Managing Partner

 Julio Acosta is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in good standing with the State of Florida since 2005. He has over 18 years of experience in private and public accounting combined and over 11 years of Taxation. Julio holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and two Master’s Degrees, one in Accounting and one in Taxation, from Florida International University. He is an avid reader, well rounded entrepreneur, next generation technology promoter and marketing aficionado.

He began his career in accounting in the hospitality industry with the Hilton hotel chain as a Night Shift Auditor and quickly ascended to Controller for one of their busiest hotels in Miami Beach. Seeking to expand his knowledge and experience in the private sector, he joined an International Architectural firm as an Accounting Manager. This role entailed accurate consolidation and reporting of accounts for multiple Caribbean Islands subsidiaries. He later joined The Beacon Council for Miami-Dade as a Senior Accountant. Under this role, he restructured and automated time-consuming payroll and accounts payable procedures achieving much needed efficiencies and reliability.
Thirsty for more, Julio took the plunge in the public accounting sector. He joined Berkowitz Dick Pollack and Brant CPAs as a Financial Auditor and shortly after attained the position of Senior Financial Auditor at Ernst and Young, one of the “Big Four” public accounting firms in the world. While working with these firms Julio gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in financial reporting and auditing of large scale operations and publicly traded organizations in the heath-care, banking, logistics, and aviation industries.

Opportunity knocked at Julio’s door to return to the private sector as the Controller of a Commercial Property Management Department that was in its infant stage and with his input it quickly flourishing. For Julio, it was an exciting opportunity to build a department from the ground up and establish the necessary procedures and controls that could ensure its healthy growth and success. Once achieved, Julio’s sight was placed on an even larger feat, owning his very own firm. In 2006, he does just that by acquiring a boutique firm specialized in Tax Preparation and Planning. Julio would transform and grow his firm into into what is known today; an extension of his clients’ businesses in the counties of Broward, Miami Dade and West Palm Beach supporting their “back-office” tax, accounting and financial planning functions.

Vannellia Velez holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Florida International University. She is an information systems management professional with diverse experience in enterprise information systems audit and implementation of effective software solutions that improve business performance and operations. Throughout her career she has endeavored in various complex projects to analyze large-scale business processes and identify technology gaps to layout thorough systems implementation plans that are executable and adoptable by users with detailed readiness training.  As an Information Technology Auditor with Ernst and Young, a Big Four public accounting Firm, she tested enterprise financial systems and controls for compliance with Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) for publicly traded organizations in the Real Estate, Property Management, Banking, Produce and Software industries.  In her role as an Enterprise Data Governor for Burger King Corporation, she inventoried business critical data, relevant systems, and function stakeholders to establish necessary controls that ensured information availability, usability, and reliability for business intelligence reporting on product sales performance, supply chain management and inventory tracking.  During her term as a Director of IT Service Delivery, she managed in-house and outsourced IT infrastructure and support staff as well as partner vendors against established service-level agreements and metrics.  As a Partner, Vannellia provides direction on business operations, effective management oversight and continuous service delivery improvement efforts for Acosta Tax and Advisory, PA. In alignment with the founder’s growth vision, she develops and executes marketing strategies and tracks sales performance. She plays a key role in the evaluation and acquisition of new technology, as well as ensuring it’s successfully implementation and return on investment. She is also involved in the firm’s resource planning, talent acquisition and resource development within the firm.

Steven Goldey is a certified public accountant located in Miami Beach, Florida. Steven Goldey is a CPA, licensed to practice in the state of Florida. The requirements for licensure in Florida ensure that Steven Goldey maintains the highest standard of knowledge and ethics when operating as an accountant. CPAs may practice as a public accountant, work in private industry, education or government, and are often considered experts in tax preparation. Their overall educational requirements and training in business and knowledge in principles of general law and taxation provide CPAs with the skills to help individuals with both personal and business financial decisions.

As a key member of the Executive Management team, Tania played a key role in the overall management of assets for an international organization servicing the most prominent and celebrated luxury resort brands and exclusive clients. She is skilled in Revenue Recognition, Budgeting, Project Accounting, Accounting, and Financial Planning. Tania is a strong finance professional with a Master in Accounting from Florida International University – College of Business Administration.

Jorge Rodriguez has over five years of experience and specialization in sales tax, payroll and income tax preparation. He is responsible for the timely preparation and filing of business returns, personal returns, foreign financial accounts reports, payroll and sales taxes. Jorge holds a Bachelor’s Associate degree in Business Administration from American Intercontinental University with a minor in Accounting. Jorge is currently pursuing studies to become a Certified Public Accountant.

Daniela Acosta is a seasoned Tax Account with three years of valuable experience in public accounting and three years in private accounting. She is proficient in compilation and review of financial statements as well as write-up services for business clients. She specializes in individual, corporate, and not-for-profit income tax returns. She also prepares sales and use tax returns, property tax returns and trust returns. Daniela received her Bachelor’s Associate degree in Accounting from Florida International University and her Masters in Taxation from Nova Southeastern University. Daniela is currently pursuing studies to become a Certified Public Accountant.

Daniel Mateo is a seasoned Tax Account. Prior to joining My CPA, Daniel practiced in the Accounting and Tax Services division at RSM McGladrey, one of the world’s largest professional services firm for a tenure of four years.  Later he transitioned to a midsize local firm.  Daniel brings over nine years of tax compliance and advisory experience with a variety of clients including C corporations, partnerships, S corporations, individuals. He received both his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, and his Masters degree in Accounting with a concentration in Taxation from Florida International University and is currently on track to becoming a Certified Public Accountant.

She is currently working towards an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration and bachelor’s degree in accounting.

She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish Literature and two Associate’s Degree in Psychology and Child Advocacy respectively. She is currently working towards her MBA in Business Administration. Her set of skills, including but not limited to knowledge of CRM Software, sales, attention to detail, tech savvy, tax knowledge and being bilingual in English and Spanish, had awarded her the gratification of working with different companies in the industry as a Client Service Professional, Customer Service Representative and Administrative Assistant.
